About the Course
Due to their complexity, hand burns can sometimes be difficult to manage. Depending on their location, depth, and stage of healing, hand burns will require different types of intervention. This course will provide you with key knowledge and principles to choose the right interventions, as well as decide the appropriate frequency and intensity when developing an individualized rehabilitation strategy for each patient, and thus prevent or correct problems such as scar contractures and hand deformities.

Course objectives
After this training, you will be able to:
Explain the general clinical principles for the design of burned hand rehabilitation intervention strategies.
Explain the characteristics of the different types of interventions (positioning, exercises, splinting, pressure therapy), and how they are applied to hand rehabilitation.
Explain the priorities and types of appropriate interventions at the different stages of burn hand recovery, in the management of burns on the dorsal and palmar sides of the hand.
Apply these principles in the selection of interventions and the development of an individualized rehabilitation strategy.

General clinical principles
Types and characteristics of rehabilitation interventions
Rehabilitation interventions: Dorsal burns
Rehabilitation interventions: Palmar burns
Demonstration of the design of the rehabilitation plan for a burned hand case
Exercise in designing the rehabilitation plan for a burned hand case
Evaluation
Pre-test to evaluate the level of basic knowledge of the participant.
Mini quiz after each lesson to review key points of the lesson.
Post-test to evaluate the improvement of participants' knowledge.
Exercise in designing the rehabilitation plan for a burned hand case.
Approval criteria:
Completion of all course elements within the allotted time period.
Post-test score of 80% and more.
Completion of the rehabilitation plan design exercise.
The participant must complete all learning activities by the end of the course date. After that date, they will no longer have access to the course content and the learning record will be marked as "incomplete."
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a certificate of completion.
There will be no extension or repetition of the course.
This course is for
Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
Priority will be given to therapists who are directly involved in burn rehabilitation (either pediatric or adult, inpatient and/or outpatient) and who preferably have at least 3 years of experience working in burns.
