How to make a grip aid for a patient with loss of bilateral hand function

Universal cuff is often used to provide users with limited grip strength and dexterity more control when manipulating utensils or writing tools. However, for patients with bilateral loss of grasp function due to nerve injury or amputation, putting on the universal cuff independently can be problematic.


In this short video, Ching-Yuan LIN (OT) proposes a modified design that solves this problem and she will explain the step-by-step process to fabricate this grip aid, as well as precautions and contraindications.
